Utilities

Cringlebar Ltd work hand in hand with the operative and the employer to produce excellent quality, diverse evidence for their National Construction Operative NVQ qualification. NVQ levels 1,2 and 3 for both gas and water industry qualifications, including upgrades to larger diameter pipes can be achieved without the need for the operative to try and work their way through a sometimes-complicated portfolio format.

With Cringlebar Ltd the operative produces good quality, authentic and reliable evidence and the staff at Cringlebar Ltd cross reference the evidence into the portfolio to produce a high quality finished product.

Water industry

Cringlebar Ltd provide qualifications for the Water industry for newcomers and for operatives in the industry who have years of experience but have no formal qualifications

The process is the same as for the gas industry but with a different method of assessing experienced workers.

Cringlebar Ltd run conversion courses for gas industry

Operatives to convert their gas qualifications to water qualifications.

A course agreed with the Certification and Awarding Body for the Water industry is carried out every Saturday. Operatives who have worked in the industry for years without qualifications or gas operatives wishing to gain water qualifications can arrange with us to be assessed on the centre. Once again the operative produces an observation, photographic and video evidence, answers underpinning knowledge questions and takes part in a relaxed professional discussion. The evidence is processed into a portfolio by the assessor and submitted to CABWI

Gas Industry

Cringlebar Ltd already work with large national gas and multi utility companies and small sub-contractors to these companies. We deliver the following City and Guilds qualifications.

NVQ level 1 is a qualification for assistants to the gas and water industries for newcomers eager to further their career in the industries. As part of the process Cringlebar Ltd take into consideration the length of time the operative has worked in the industry on site with skilled personnel gaining valuable skills, familiarity with the work environment and industry knowledge. Cringlebar Ltd then put together a training plan in the operatives’ best interests and work with them to produce quality evidence for their portfolios.

NVQ level 2 is a qualification for either service layers or mains layers in the gas industry. Cringlebar Ltd assess for both the self-lay and distribution industry and the conversion from self-lay to distribution if needed. The process normally consists of: -

  1. A site-based induction to the portfolio and qualification process
  2. The operative is given documentation to gather witness testimonies from a reliable source confirming the operative’s skill and knowledge, usually from the team leader who works with the operative 8 hours a day and is in the best position to make a valid, reliable judgement of the operatives knowledge and skill
  3. The operative is encouraged to have Photographs and short videos of them at work carrying out various stages of the process needed to meet the qualification criteria
  4. NVQ question papers are given to the operative for them to demonstrate they have the necessary underpinning knowledge needed for the industry. Cringlebar Ltd assists operatives with literacy and numeracy difficulties in a relaxed environment
  5. The assessor visits the operative on site and carries out an observation of the operative demonstrating the relevant practical skills and knowledge needed for the qualification. The assessor also asks questions laid down by City and guilds or CABWI and engages in an informal professional discussion
  6. The assessor takes all the evidence back to the centre and compiles the portfolio

NVQ Level 3 is mainly but not exclusively for larger diameter pipes. The assessment plan is agreed with the operative and the evidence is produced as per the above.
